Type: Freelance / Contractor (remote) Function: End-to-end CPD course production (design → build → package → QA → upload support) Reports to: Head of Content & Compliance Works with: SMEs (AI, Operations, Projects, Finance, Funding, Compliance, Leadership), Instructional Designer, QA/Compliance Officer, Media Designer Aim: We are aiming at starting with 5 CPD courses (1st course produced by yourself as a paid trial), and then add more courses over time. Tools/Standards: Articulate Storyline/Rise, Captivate or Lectora; SCORM 1.2/2004 4th; xAPI / cmi5; H5P; Camtasia; Adobe CC; WCAG 2.1 AA Role Purpose Build accredited CPD courses (1 / 2 hours long each course as a final product) that are engaging, standards-compliant, and LMS-ready. You’ll transform SME inputs into instructionally sound modules, publish SCORM/xAPI packages, and collaborate on QA so courses pass compliance, accessibility, and performance benchmarks. Core Responsibilities 1) Instructional design & scripting Convert SME content (provided) into storyboards, scripts, and interaction maps aligned to CPD learning outcomes. Create assessments (MCQ, scenario, sims) with question banks, randomized draws, and results reporting. 2) Development & packaging Build modules in Storyline/Rise/Captivate/Lectora/H5P with responsive design and clean UX. Publish SCORM 1.2/2004 (4th) and xAPI/cmi5 packages with correct manifest metadata, suspend/resume, bookmarking, and score reporting. Produce media assets (screen recordings, motion graphics), voice-over integration, and downloadable job aids. 3) Compliance & accessibility Implement WCAG 2.1 AA: alt text, color contrast, keyboard navigation, transcripts/captions (VTT/SRT), logical focus order. Follow CPD Methodology (hours mapping, outcome alignment) and version control for audit. 4) QA & release Run SCORM Cloud and target-LMS tests; cross-browser/device matrix; debug tracking (cmi data) and completion states. Prepare handover bundle: source files, published zips, media/transcripts, alt-text inventory, licenses, and release notes. 5) Maintenance Manage versioning/errata; apply fixes within SLA; support localization (strings export/import; captions; RTL if needed). Required Experience (non-negotiable) 2+ years hands-on building eLearning for corporate or CPD contexts. 20+ complete courses shipped (portfolio required) with at least 10 in SCORM 2004 and 5 using xAPI/cmi5. Demonstrable WCAG 2.1 AA implementation in past work. Experience packaging and testing on at least two LMSs (e.g., Skillcast, Moodle, Docebo, Cornerstone, LearnUpon). Strong Storyline skills (variables, states, triggers, branches) and one secondary tool (Rise, Captivate, Lectora, H5P). Nice to have: finance/operations/compliance domain familiarity; Vyond/After Effects motion design; QTI; multi-language rollouts; Git/LFS for source control. Skills & Behaviours Instructional rigor: clear outcomes, chunking, practice → feedback → mastery. Technical depth: comfortable reading SCORM logs, xAPI statements, and LMS debug. Detail-oriented: zero-defect mindset; consistent styles, naming, and alt text. Collaborative & timely: works to sprint plans; communicates blockers early; maintains Jira/Asana/Trello tickets. Deliverables (per course) Storyboard & script (with outcome mapping and timing/CPD hours). Source files (.story/.cptx/.html5, assets) + style guide. Published packages: SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 4th; xAPI/cmi5 (as required). Assessment banks (item map, difficulty, feedback text). Accessibility pack: transcripts, captions, alt-text list, keyboard map. QA bundle: SCORM Cloud logs, browser/device test results, defect log & fixes. Metadata: title, description, target audience, keywords, duration, version, language, release notes. Licenses: proof of rights for fonts, images, SFX, VO. Performance KPIs On-time delivery (storyboard, alpha, beta, gold) ≥ 95%. First-pass acceptance (gold with ≤3 minor issues) ≥ 90%. Defect density ≤ 0.6 per 30 minutes of content at gold. Accessibility conformance (WCAG 2.1 AA checklist) 100%. LMS pass rate (tracking/completion/score) 100% across target LMSs. Learner satisfaction (post-course CSAT) ≥ 4.3/5. Compensation Per-course fixed fee based on length/complexity + rush multipliers for expedited timelines Optional retainer for monthly maintenance/localization. Performance bonus for on-time, zero-defect releases across multiple LMS targets. How to Apply Portfolio of at least 20 courses (links or packaged samples). A SCORM 2004 package and an xAPI/cmi5 package you built (test login or SCORM Cloud link). A 2-page storyboard excerpt + final screen recording to demonstrate design → build fidelity. One paragraph on how you implement WCAG 2.1 AA (focus order, alt text, captions, tab traps).
