The Opportunity
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Qualified Food Technology Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a skilled and experienced educator with a strong understanding of various special educational needs. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who wants to create and deliver engaging, practical lessons that help students develop essential life skills, overcome challenges, and build confidence in the kitchen. You will be a vital part of shaping our students' educational journeys.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver creative and differentiated Food Technology lessons for students with a range of special educational needs.
- Assess and track student progress, adapting teaching strategies to meet individual learning goals and abilities.
- Create a safe, supportive, and stimulating classroom environment that promotes well-being and a love for cooking.
- Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with students, parents, and other professionals.
- Work closely with teaching assistants and support staff to ensure a cohesive and effective approach to student support.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and involve them in their child's education.
- Manage a safe and organised food technology classroom, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and school-wide initiatives.
What We're Looking For
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
- Experience teaching Food Technology, with a strong understanding of working with students who have special educational needs.
- A deep knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards.
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient nature.
- Excellent classroom management skills.
- The ability to be flexible and resourceful.
- A collaborative spirit and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
