Position Title: Financial Business Systems Analyst Job Description: Working under minimal supervision, incumbent implements, analyzes, maintains, and assists with continuously improving features associated with the city's financial business processes and day-to-day Workday system operations. Supports enterprise-wide financial planning, budgeting, analysis, and/or reporting systems and functions. Incumbent at this level possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter and ability to handle complex issues and problems. Assigned tasks and duties include identifying and implementing improvements to Finance Department business processes through analysis, assessment, coordination, partnering, configuration, testing, and documenting changes to related Workday business solutions and related systems. Ensures the proper function, operation and data integrity of Workday business processes and associated financial operations systems. Essential duties include identification of business needs; research and report writing; training and assisting users; troubleshooting and resolving system automations, custom validations, system restrictions, user access and permissions, and systems errors; coordination of system enhancements, system integrations, and security administration in addition to compiling reports and organizing data related to assigned functions. Ensures cross-functional access to systems in accordance with established city policy and security requirements. Meets with users to develop, maintain, produce, and distribute standard and custom reports and queries. Writes queries or reports to provide data for various analytical projects. Performs business process and data analysis. Utilizes established integration methodologies to map business processes to modules and administers user acceptance testing. Communicates, as needed, with programmers and other specialists on matters of file design, testing, debugging, security, storage, permissions and access, and related activities. Meets with users and stakeholders to understand, analyze, map, design, develop, test, and implement business processes, workflows, projects, and programs to meet special and on-going needs. In short, to bridge the gap between technology and business needs. Coordinates with Finance department and internal/external development teams to identify systems requirements and needs of the organization. Provides documentation and workflow analysis support for financial systems/process improvement recommendations. Participates in the planning and implementation of proposed recommendations and system changes. Develops, delivers, and administers training and related materials to end users. May provide system support following implementation. Integrates data from multiple data sources or functional areas, ensures data accuracy and integrity, and updates data as needed. Ensures all business data and systems are secure and adhere to established security standards and policies. Provides system support following implementation. Tests and validates new releases or enhancements. Documents, delivers, and administers training and related materials to end users. Performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business (or Public) Administration, or a similar field plus three years directly related work experience. Education and related work experience may be substituted one for the other on a year-for-year basis. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Possess intermediate to working-level knowledge of enterprise systems, data management, and/or applicable technological applications and solutions; web base usage; and, effective report writing methods and techniques. Possess skill and ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; manage own time, priorities, and resources to achieve goals; focus on results and desired outcomes and how best to achieve them. Ability to build collaborative relationships, work as part of a team and effectively across different levels of management and various functional areas. Ability to comprehend and implement related business processes, methods, and techniques. Ability to research and implement related best practices; identify opportunities for process and system improvements either in existing designs or new functionalities. Ability to manage projects and multiple competing priorities simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines. Ability to collaborate with and guide stakeholders using project management and change management methodologies to increase user adoption of ERP systems, especially of Workday. Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills. Detail oriented with strong organizational skills. Ability to communicate highly technical ideas in clear, concise terminology that is understandable to department leaders and end users. Ability to be a resource in solving technical problems and initiating changes to processes and procedures to meet ongoing user needs. Ability to proactively participate in continual learning, cross-functional collaboration, and to understand how technical processes fit into the larger business purposes and strategies Ability to document and communicate technical processes for knowledge transfer and training. Ability to use agile and sprint methodologies. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Prior work experience using One Solution, Salesforce Service Cloud, ServiceNow, or Workday. Possession of or ability to obtain Workday Financial Pro certification. WORKING CONDITIONS: Generally comfortable working conditions requiring light physical effort. Intermittent sitting, standing and walking. May require frequent travel between office and department or meeting location. Considerable exposure to stress as a result of human behavior and job requirements.
