LOCATION(S): London & Edinburgh
HOURS: Full Time
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.
About this opportunity
The role partners closely with stakeholders across Financial Markets Business and Finance teams within the Commercial Bank, providing support and insight to Products, Segments, Investment and Portfolio management, working with a large and diverse business partnering community.
As a Senior Finance Leader, you will be responsible for financial planning, performance insight, strategic advisory, and control oversight. This role plays a critical part in shaping financial strategy, enabling commercial decision-making, and driving transformation across the business.
The candidate will need to have a strong understanding of and experience in Financial Markets businesses and have the ability to interpret financial and accounting information, appreciate market dynamics and impact on the business, work with data whilst leveraging advanced numerical and problem-solving skills to develop robust financial models.
They need to be able to produce corroborative analysis and clear technical explanations to support informed decision-making.
The candidate will be expected to provide expert advisory on complex transactions across Markets, and understand valuation and accounting issues, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and internal control frameworks.
Key responsibilities will include:
Strategic & Operational Leadership

Spearhead the formulation and execution of Financial Markets plans including budgets to align with strategic objectives
Business Partnering & Insight

Develop positive relationships with senior collaborators across Products, Segments, Regions in the Markets business by providing expert financial insight to support strategic decisions.

Interpret financial performance, challenge the business constructively, and communicate key messages clearly and effectively.

Collaborate with the wider Finance Business Partnering (FBP) community to support forums such as Growth Forums and Finance Resource Meetings; and with Product Control and Valuation Control teams ensuring adherence to regulatory and internal controls requirements.
Planning and Predicting Future Trends

Lead forecasting and planning cycles to help set the direction of the business and ensure delivery against financial commitments.
Change & Innovation

Initiate and implement new business practices to improve financial processes and decision-making; ideally using new tools and bring in efficiencies and better control.
Capability & Talent Development

Implement formal development frameworks for the department and mentor talent across the wider organisation and invest in personal development through continuous learning

What you'll need

Experienced professional with Financial Markets experience

Strong commercial acumen and ability to interpret performance and communicate insights clearly.

Curiosity and drive to understand business performance and improve processes.

Proven ability to build trusted relationships across diverse teams and senior stakeholders.

A growth mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and value creation.

Experience in a similar finance leadership role; a professional finance qualification is desirable.
