You'll join us in Group Finance Support (GFS), a team of c300 colleagues within the Finance Division, providing centralised support and expertise to the rest of Finance and the Business. This role is a 12-month fixed term contract supporting the CB Financial Control team in Group Finance Support responsible for the financial control activity, reconciliation and basis of substantiation of data on a monthly basis.

The role is in the Financial Control team which is responsible for product control within the Transactions, GCT and Investments team

We're looking for someone who has graduated from university with an accountancy degree and with a long-term aim of becoming a qualified accountant. You should also be an enthusiastic and hardworking candidate who has a passion for learning, especially on the Microsoft Power Automate, Query and BI tools.

As a Finance Analyst in Product Control, you will play a key role in supporting the financial control and reporting of trading activities. You'll be responsible for:

  • Preparing and reviewing daily and monthly P&L and balance sheet reporting for assigned trading desks.
  • Investigating and resolving P&L variances, working closely with Front Office, Risk, and Finance teams.
  • Supporting the month-end close process, including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Contributing to process improvement initiatives and supporting audit and regulatory deliverables.
  • Preparation of analysis and in-depth commentary and in-depth P&L commentary tied to market / product /coverage context and balance sheet reconciliation and commentary etc.

What you'll need

  • An accountancy degree or only a max of six exams left to compete as part of your professional qualification
  • Desire to study towards ACCA qualification

We're looking for someone who has graduated from university with an accountancy degree and with a long-term aim of becoming a qualified accountant. You should also be an enthusiastic and hardworking candidate who has a passion for learning, especially on the Microsoft Power Automate, Query and BI tools.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Dailly funding of bank accounts
  • Dailly bank reconciliations ensuring all outstanding items are cleared by working with the accounting operations teams.
  • Contributing to the month end process, including the monthly balance sheet reconciliation and substantiation process, including ARC certification and the assurance of the ledger at month end;
  • Taking ownership of control issues or balance sheet breaks, ensuring that these are owned and remediating action plans are in place;
  • Collaborating closely with a large number of internal teams
  • Developing personal capabilities using existing formal and informal training opportunities;
  • Proactively identifying improvements to existing processes, systems and procedures, including the running of debrief meetings and driving continuous improvement initiatives;
