About
- Role Overview
- Join our team as an FBS Hub Team Leader, supporting the delivery of one of the most important agricultural insight programmes in the country — the Farm Business Survey (FBS). Working with around 1,500 farms across England, the FBS provides critical data that directly shapes agricultural and environmental policy.
- In this role, you’ll coordinate and support the central functions of the FBS Hub, ensuring smooth operations, high‑quality data, and effective collaboration across our research and field teams. You’ll play a key part in managing national survey activities, data quality processes, and the annual recruitment of new farm participants.
- If you’re highly organised, analytical, and motivated by work that contributes to the future of UK farming, this is a fantastic opportunity.
- You Will
- Coordinate the Hub team responsible for managing core FBS central functions, including sample management, reporting, and updates to the Fieldbook and processing tools.
- Ensure all Defra requests for information, data corrections, and quality checks are completed accurately and on time.
- Lead and deliver the annual FBS Farm Recruitment project, securing new participants in line with survey requirements.
- Work closely with Research Officers to collect, analyse, process, and approve farm business data in collaboration with participating farmers and growers. This may include on‑farm visits.
- Prepare and deliver feedback and benchmarking reports for participating farmers and growers.
- Take full responsibility for safeguarding, managing, and returning all sensitive business records loaned by participants (e.g., invoices, bank statements, sales notes).
- Support the efficient operation of all central FBS functions that underpin the wider project delivery and annual database updates to Defra.
- Requirements
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience (minimum two years in a relevant field).
