Applicants who require a visa to work in the UK should be aware that our apprenticeships are ineligible for sponsorship. Availability to complete the level 3 apprenticeship up to a 42-month duration. Evidence of having been resident in the UK for 3 years prior to taking up the apprenticeship in September this year or candidates who qualify for an exemption as stated here: Apprenticeship funding rules - GOV.UK At least 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) with results of 5 and above. Please note that three of the GCSEs must be Maths, Science and English. Ability to be onsite five days per week, either at our factory in Brackley or at the apprenticeship learning provider (located in Milton Keynes or Coventry). We will check you meet the criteria as part of the application process as this will need to be evidenced before you can start the programme. About the role: We’re seeking a motivated individual to join our Facilities team as a Facilities Maintenance Apprentice. In this role, you will gain hands on experience in site operations, building repairs and maintenance across our campus at Brackley. Reporting to the Facilities Maintenance Manager, you will work within a fast-paced environment, responding to facilities and maintenance repairs, supported by our team of Facilities Maintenance Technicians. You will learn how to: Plan and prepare maintenance work Create and maintain a safe working environment Select and use correct tools, equipment and materials for a range of maintenance tasks Carry out a range of facilities maintenance tasks including minor plumbing repairs, minor electrical repairs, carpentry and joinery, painting, flooring repairs and ceiling repairs. Use digital communication methods to record, report and update information relating to jobs, communicate with colleagues and stakeholders whilst providing a high level of customer service. Understand how buildings are constructed and maintained, how internal systems operate and how to work in a way that reduces waste and environmental impact. Key skills & duties include: Carry out routine and reactive maintenance tasks Complete minor repairs to walls, doors, windows, fixtures and fittings. Assist with basic plumbing work, including clearing blockages and replacing small fixtures and fittings. Carry out general building maintenance tasks such as carpentry, painting, decorating, flooring repairs and ceiling repairs. Use and maintain hand tools and power tools ensuring they are operated safely and correctly. Follow health and safety processes and procedures at all times Prepare and maintain work areas to ensure safety and tidiness before, during and after tasks. Work closely with colleagues, managers and other stakeholders Maintain a high level of customer service and behave in a professional manner at all times. Identify when to ask for help or escalate issues or jobs to your manager. Check own work to ensure it is carried out to a high standard and meets expected quality standards. Candidate Profile Essential: Computer literate. Dependable, enthusiastic and willing to learn. Good communication skills. Reliable and flexible and punctual. A strong, positive work ethic with a ‘can do, team focused’ approach. Can demonstrate a strong customer focus with good communication and interpersonal skills.
