We are seeking a skilled Fabric Engineer to join our onsite team at the Canary Wharf site.

In this role, you will be responsible for the effective maintenance and repair of building fabric, ensuring a safe, reliable, and high-quality environment.

The ideal candidate will be proactive and dependable, working to the highest engineering standards while complying with the Health and Safety at Work Act (HASAWA). You will respond swiftly to building fabric issues, maintain accurate records, and follow established quality assurance procedures to support the smooth operation of the site.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out inspections, repairs, and minor installations, as well as supporting the wider engineering team in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality services.​

This includes coordinating client requests, managing specialist sub-contractors, conducting technical surveys, and ensuring that all tools and equipment are maintained to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

Inspect, repair, and maintain floor, wall, and ceiling coverings

Inspect, repair, or replace free-standing and fitted furniture

Inspect and clear drainage gully systems

Inspect, replace, or repair doors, windows, luminaries, and associated fixtures

Carry out painting, decorating, and wallpapering to a high standard

Complete semi-skilled tasks while supporting other engineering roles

Respond promptly to building fabric issues and help desk requests

Conduct technical surveys and produce detailed reports

Coordinate client requests and manage sub-contractors effectively

Maintain tools and equipment in optimal working condition

Provide cover and support at other sites as required

Ensure compliance with all company and client procedures, standards, and H&S requirements

Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications

City & Guilds or NVQ in a building trade (e.g., painting, plastering, joinery, or carpentry)

Demonstrable experience in carpentry, painting, flooring, or building fabric maintenance

Strong painting and decorating skills, with an eye for detail and experience with high-grade wallpapers

Experience with tiling repairs and installations

PASMA/IPAF certification

Experience using computer-based Planned

Preventive Maintenance (PPM) systems

Previous experience in a multi-site, banking, or similar commercial environment

Good knowledge of general building works, diagnostic and repair procedures

Awareness and understanding of Health and Safety legislation and safe working practices

Ability to work flexibly, independently, and as part of a team
