- An Environmental Manager position is available with the City of Fort Worth Water Department in the Plant Operations Division. Plant Operations is responsible for 5 water treatment plants, one wastewater treatment plant, Biosolids Dry Facility and multiple lift stations, tanks, pump stations, and large meters for the City of Fort Worth as well as customer cities. This position will assist with Budget Forecasting duties, Purchase Contracts monitoring, Submitting Divisional KPIs and Data Submission to Internal/External Stakeholders, SCADA Reporting and Data Analysis, Energy and Natural Gas Usage Monitoring/Tracking for all Plant Operation Facilities, Monitor and Track the Digester Gas Sales Program, Assist with Capital Improvement Project Coordination for the Plant Operations Division.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.
- Five (5) years of increasingly responsible Environmental Management experience including wo (2) years of administrative and supervisory experience
- Valid Driver’s License
- Must pass Drug Screen
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years’ experience in Process Control Systems
- Computer skills, including programming
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Web development software
- Experience with SCADA/DCS, EDS System and Maximo systems.
- Knowledge of fundamentals and principles of computer technology, systems analysis and design and operating systems.
- Familiar with programming languages such as Visual Basic Applications for Microsoft Excel, Jython, Python, Java, WIMS Software
The Environmental Program Manager responsibilities include
- Supervises staff, which includes prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff is trained; ensuring employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and, making hiring, termination, and disciplinary decisions or recommendations.
- Assists with development of master plans, contracts monitoring, budget forecasting, initiating studies and other projects to facilitate implementation of the department’s strategic vision
- Perform Process Data Analysis and Develop/Maintain SCADA Reporting and data extraction tools.
- Submitting Divisional KPIs and Data submission to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Administers, supervises, coordinates and manages various program activities relative to assigned division.
- Researches, complies and analyzes information; prepares and submits reports and other correspondence; coordinates plan review and inspection; and represents the City during audits and program review.
- Monitor and track Energy, Natural Gas and Chemical Usage for all Water/WW Facilities
- Monitor and track the Digester Gas Sales Program
- Assist with the Capital Improvement Project Coordination on behalf of the Plant Operations Division.
- Maintains indicators of environmental status and program activities for significant changes in quality and quantity of services provided.
- Initiates and maintains contact with public and private agencies associated with environmental issues; and provides information to the public regarding environmental ordinances and actions that reduce pollution.
- Serves as staff on a variety of boards, commissions and committees. Provides administrative assistance to the Director; and prepares and presents staff reports and other necessary correspondence.
- Conducts a variety of organizational studies, investigations and operational studies; and recommends modifications to environmental programs, policies and procedures as appropriate.

- Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions.
- Light Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
