- We are looking for an Environmental Monitoring Assistant to support the collection, monitoring, and reporting of environmental and operational data across our client’s water and wastewater networks.
- This is an entry-level role, ideal for someone starting a career in the water or environmental sector. You will work alongside experienced analysts and engineers, helping to ensure environmental data is accurate, timely, and supports regulatory compliance and operational decision-making.
- Full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitoring & Data Support
- Support the monitoring of environmental data from sensors and monitoring systems (e.g. level, flow, rainfall, water quality)
- Check incoming data for completeness, accuracy, and anomalies
- Assist with basic data analysis and reporting
- Help maintain dashboards and routine performance reports
- Environmental & Operational Support
Support monitoring of assets such as
- Sewer level monitors
- CSOs (Combined Sewer Overflows)
- Pumping stations
- Flow and rainfall monitoring sites
- Assist with identifying potential issues such as blockages, high levels, or abnormal trends
- Escalate issues to senior team members following agreed procedures
- Compliance & Documentation
- Support environmental compliance monitoring and reporting
- Help maintain accurate records and audit trails
- Assist with preparation of reports for internal teams and regulators
- Follow established procedures and data quality standards
- Systems & Tools
- Use monitoring platforms, dashboards, and databases to access and review data
- Update logs, trackers, and documentation
- Learn how monitoring equipment and telemetry systems work (training provided)
- Team & Communication
- Work closely with analysts, engineers, and operations teams
- Communicate findings clearly to non-technical colleagues
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions
- Qualifications
- GCSEs / A-Levels or equivalent (especially science, geography, maths, or IT)
- Relevant qualification or study in environmental science, geography, engineering, or data
- Basic understanding of environmental or water-related data
- Any experience with monitoring, data analysis, or fieldwork (desirable)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in MS Office tools
- Ability to follow procedures and work methodically
