The Role
We're seeking a passionate and skilled English Teacher to join our team. This role goes beyond grammar and vocabulary-it's about opening doors to new worlds through literature and empowering students to become clear and compelling communicators. You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons that cover a diverse range of texts, from Shakespearean plays to modern poetry. The ideal candidate will be adept at tailoring lessons to meet the needs of all learners, helping them not only to understand but also to appreciate the depth and beauty of English. You will play a crucial role in preparing students for key exams and, more importantly, for a lifetime of effective communication.
Your Responsibilities
- Design and deliver stimulating English lessons for students across all Key Stages, fostering a love of literature and language.
- Cultivate a classroom environment that encourages open discussion, debate, and creative expression.
- Assess and provide feedback on students' written work, helping them to refine their skills in essays, creative writing, and analysis.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and share engaging resources and curriculum ideas.
- Contribute to the school's reading culture by recommending books and participating in literary events.
- Support students in preparing for public examinations, ensuring they have the tools and confidence to succeed.
What We're Looking For
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in English, English Literature, or a related field.
- Proven experience teaching English at the secondary level, with a strong record of student success.
- Deep subject knowledge and a genuine passion for both classic and contemporary literature.
- Exceptional communication skills and a knack for inspiring students of all abilities.
