About

  • Aim high, go beyond!
  • At Open Cosmos we are solving the world’s biggest challenges from space, providing businesses, governments and researchers access to more readily available information than ever before - ready for the challenge? Then read on…
  • Working in our Chief Technology Office (CTO)
  • The CTO division is where Open Cosmos technology comes to life. Covering engineering, product development, and technical innovation, the team designs, builds, and operates the satellites, systems, and platforms that make our missions possible. It’s a highly collaborative environment where ideas become real hardware, software, and data solutions that deliver impact from space.
  • The Electronics team is where the magic happens - from power systems and flight computers to comms boards and payload interfaces, they make sure every mission succeeds. It’s creative, hands-on, and mission-critical work — solving tricky problems, testing every circuit, and making sure our satellites are ready to thrive in the toughest environment of all: Space.
  • As an Embedded Electronics Engineer, you’ll contribute to the design, development and verification of embedded electronic hardware for our satellite missions, with a focus on On-Board Data Handling (OBDH) systems. This is a delivery-focused role, working on real flight hardware from early design through to testing and integration.
  • What You'll Be Doing
  • Contributing to schematic capture and PCB design for embedded, mixed-signal electronics
  • Supporting component selection and design trade-offs under senior guidance
  • Assisting in the development of OBDH subsystems and embedded interfaces
  • Supporting development and verification testing of embedded hardware
  • Assisting with fault finding, root-cause analysis and corrective actions on engineering and flight models
  • Using lab equipment for signal analysis and debugging (e.g. logic analysers, oscilloscopes)
  • Working closely with Flight Software to support embedded hardware/software integration
  • Collaborating with Power Electronics engineers on system-level considerations
  • Contributing to design reviews, test readiness reviews and lessons learned
  • Producing and maintaining design, test and verification documentation
  • What You’ll Bring
  • Solid grounding in electronics engineering principles with a focus on embedded systems
  • Knowledge of MCU-based systems, embedded interfaces and basic FPGA interaction concepts
  • Familiarity with schematic capture and PCB design tools
  • Understanding of embedded boot concepts, interfaces and basic high-speed signals
  • Ability to undertake electronics testing and debugging
  • This role will be based in Harwell, UK
  • To apply, you must have the legal right to work in the UK.
  • Why Open Cosmos?
  • Work at the cutting edge of space technology with customers around the globe.
  • A mission-driven company making space accessible to help solve real-world challenges.
  • A diverse, ambitious, and supportive team.
