- Job Description
- The Account EH&S Lead – Europe is responsible for providing operational Environmental, Health & Safety leadership across an expanding portfolio of hyperscale data centre PMC projects in UK & Europe. Acting as the primary point of contact for all ES&H matters, the role ensures alignment between client expectations, site teams, and Turner & Townsend safety programmes. The position drives a proactive safety culture, supports and mentors PMC H&S teams, oversees contractor and project ES&H compliance, and leads continuous improvement through site inspections, incident investigations, lessons learned and best practice sharing. The role maintains strong client relationships, ensures legal and contractual safety requirements are met, and contributes to successful project delivery through effective collaboration, oversight, and professional guidance across all phases of construction.
Essential Duties & Role Requirements
- Support and enable the PMC Leadership team to achieve the highest standards in EHS performance across a portfolio of projects.
- Lead, manage and mentor the PMC H&S team across the region to ensure that they provide excellent support to the business.
- Carry out regular site visits to include inspections, audits/reviews, team and client engagement.
- Support bid work.
- Champion T&Ts safety initiatives and support the delivery of Clients safety campaigns.
- Help to create a EHS culture within T&T and our supply chain.
- Maintain excellent relationships with the client, delivery teams and other EH&S team members.
- Ensure awareness among project teams with regard to the subject of EH&S.
- This is a Regional role, requiring, frequent travel will be required to all projects within the region for construction site engagement.
- Help prepare, implement, and monitor construction phase ES&H Plans.
- Assessment of contractor safety plans.
- Review and comment on High-Risk Activities.
- Apply lessons learnt and best practice, issue safety alerts when necessary.
- Lead and/or support accident investigations with a prompt and proactive approach.
- Ensure the Clients safety requirements and local legal requirements are met.
- Ensure synergy with the 'Safety Programme' led by Turner & Townsend.
- Lead a lessons learned approach, driving the sharing of knowledge and learnings from project to project as well as looking forward.
- Proactive ES&H risk management across a portfolio.
- Recruitment of ES&H personnel.
- Qualifications
- MSc in Occupational Safety, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
- Certification from an Occupational Safety & Health accreditation body (e.g. BCSP, IOSH).
- On-site construction experience, preferably within heavy industrial, infrastructure, refining environments and/or manufacturing.
- Proven track record of leading EHS at program level.
- Working knowledge of regional construction and basic governmental HSE regulations & standards.
- Clear understanding and articulation of an HSE Management System and associated elements.
- Demonstrated experience of auditing principles & practices.
- Auditor training/qualifications ideally to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001.
- Accident investigation training (e.g. 5-whys or similar)
- Experience with HSE elements delivering projects in principal/PMC delivery models.
- Demonstrated experience delivering results in a highly matrixed and afast paced environment.
- Ability to establish and build strong relationships and stakeholder across a diverse network.
- High level of energy, be a self-starter and prioritise a range of activities within a high-pressure environment.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, communication skills (oral & written) and highly customer/client-centric approach.
- Proficient in English; other languages an advantage.
- Experience with using a variety of industry software that support HSE Management Systems.
- PowerPoint, MS Word & Excel – intermediate user or above.
- Able to travel frequently to visit teams and sites across the region.
- Candidates must have valid right to work in country.
