Our Client is seeking a Disclosure / Exhibits Officer to join the Major Incident Room (MIR) team, providing essential support to the Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) in major crime investigations. This role is central to ensuring that evidence and disclosure are handled lawfully, ethically, and with the highest level of integrity.
Candidates in this role will be trusted with highly sensitive information, working closely with investigators to deliver excellence in disclosure and case management. You will provide specialist support in managing disclosure obligations under CPIA 1996, working within a small, specialised and highly motivated team that values inclusivity, peer support and professionalism. The role involves close collaboration with Detective Sergeants and Senior Police Staff Investigators on live SOC investigations, handling sensitive material with the highest degree of confidentiality and professional discretion, and maintaining accurate case records and evidence management using HOLMES.
We are seeking individuals with proven experience of working with HOLMES, with PIP2 qualification ideally, although PIP1 may be considered. You will bring a positive work ethic, strong attention to detail, and the ability to apply professional curiosity. Open-mindedness and adaptability are essential, along with the ability to work effectively alongside colleagues with diverse personalities and approaches.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the SIO and MIR Supervisor in the management of a major enquiry.
Ensure compliance with the Major Incident Room Standardised Administrative Procedures (MIRSAP) and the Major Crime Investigation Manual (MCIM).
Examine and manage disclosure material in line with the Criminal Procedures and Investigations Act 1996 (CPIA) until all potential appeals are resolved.
Prepare accurate disclosure schedules for the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), including third-party disclosure material.
Assess, record, and where necessary, edit disclosable material within HOLMES.
Handle sensitive material in consultation with the SIO and CPS, raising Public Interest Immunity issues where appropriate.
Maintain the integrity of all exhibits seized during investigations, from recording and storage through to presentation in court.
Ensure property is stored, handled, and disposed of in line with policy and evidential standards.
Provide briefings to senior officers and CPS counsel on disclosure issues.
Essential Skills & Experience:
Strong understanding of the investigative process, particularly in major crime.
Experience using HOLMES in line with MIRSAP standards.
PIP2 qualified preferred but may accept those with PIP1.
In-depth knowledge of:
National Intelligence Model (NIM)
CPIA 1996 (as amended by CJ Act 2003)

Codes of Practice 2020
High level of accuracy and attention to detail with a methodical approach.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Awareness of Health & Safety legislation.
