Entity Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) Worker Type Employee Worker Sub-Type Regular Cost Center CC001499 LAN - Labor & Delivery (LMC) Pay Rate Type Salary Pay Grade Health-31 Scheduled Weekly Hours 40 Work Shift Day (United States of America) Job Description This leader will be responsible for the direction, coordination, and evaluation of patient care delivery while maintaining a strong focus on regulatory compliance, quality standards, staff satisfaction, and patient outcomes. This role includes full responsibility for resource management, policy development, and the advancement of nursing excellence through recruitment, retention, and engagement strategies. The Director will work collaboratively with nursing administration and medical staff to ensure high standards of care that align with our hospital’s mission and values. Key Responsibilities: Direct, administer, and coordinate all activities within Women’s Services, including Labor & Delivery and Nursery units. Develop, implement, and enforce departmental policies and procedures to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with all regulatory standards. Oversee recruitment, orientation, and evaluation of nursing personnel to ensure delivery of high-quality patient care. Partner with HR to drive retention strategies, foster professional development, and enhance nursing satisfaction. Manage departmental budgets, staffing models, and resource allocation. Monitor and drive performance improvement initiatives in clinical outcomes, patient experience, and employee engagement. Serve as a liaison between staff, physicians, patients, and families to foster collaborative relationships and address concerns. Preferred Skills & Competencies: Strong leadership and communication skills Demonstrated ability to build and sustain high-performing teams Knowledge of healthcare regulations, labor laws, and evidence-based practices Proven success in budget management and process improvement Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace Lead quality improvement, risk management, and patient safety efforts specific to Women’s Services. Additional Job Description Experience: 3–5 years of clinical experience in Women’s Health/L&D/Nursery Minimum of 1–3 years in a leadership or supervisory role Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required Master’s degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration is preferred Required Licenses & Certifications: Current South Carolina or compact state RN license ( Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) with the American Heart Association (AHA) If you're ready to bring your expertise, heart, and leadership to a hospital that values excellence and compassion, we want to meet you.
