The goal is to be the leading Capital Markets franchise in Canada and the lead relationship bank for key clients globally. JOB PURPOSE The Director, Global Credit Finance (“GCF”) is a key member of a team that provides financing to clients secured by portfolios of corporate credit, infrastructure, real-estate and consumer credit assets in a variety of formats, including Repos, Total Return Swaps, and Credit Facilities collateralized by bonds, loans, and structured products. In this role, you will be responsible for providing input into transaction structuring, booking, trading and managing credit and market risk related to a global credit financing book. You will be part of a tight-knit deal team that provides recourse-based and non-recourse financing facilities to marquee private lenders, large asset managers and sophisticated pension fund clients. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Contribute to growth in the GCF business for our core and target clients. Provide input into decisions on which new loan financing mandates to pursue. Provide input into transaction structuring to ensure facilities are within risk tolerance parameters. Complete credit write-ups and make recommendations for approval of all facilities in accordance with the bank’s standard credit application processes. Review legal documentation alongside counsel to ensure documents accurately capture approved deal terms. Oversee and provide assistance where necessary to ensure all operational aspects of transactions are working as required to mitigate risk and satisfy client expectations. Work closely with the Portfolio Credit team to monitor and manage the credit risk inherent in the book. Remain current on industry and economic developments to understand potential impact on financing and securitization markets. Demonstrate a keen understanding of current and developing regulatory issues, as well as CIBC policies, guidelines and procedures. Work in the spirit of transparency and collaboration with our partners in Capital Markets Risk Management, Treasury, Accounting, Tax and Legal. Work effectively within CIBC’s corporate governance practices and policies to ensure that all potential risks are appropriately addressed and that CIBC legal/reputational issues and shareholder objectives are covered. CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS As an active participant in the decision-making process, the Director, Global Credit Finance will work with clients, Structuring, Sales/Distribution, Risk Management, Treasury and other stakeholders in the screening process for new transactions, the establishment of facilities and in the course of monitoring and managing the book. AUTHORITIES/DECISION RIGHTS As a key contributor to the business unit, this job has the authority to recommend changes to business processes in order to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Credit professional with 7+ years of combined experience across multiple asset classes, including leveraged loans, private credit, consumer, and CRE.
