- Job Description
- Build strong working relationships with CRES finance, strategic programmes, key stakeholders and delivery partners
- Develop and implement efficiency and improvement initiatives on a quarterly basis based on prioritizing areas of greatest impact
- Manage a team of 5 cost managers (potentially growing to 7-8 depending on pipeline)
- Develop and formalize annual corporate plan cycle for office investment projects in coordination with strategy, CRES finance and stakeholders
- Own capital project investment cost and cashflow estimation, both at strategy paper and business case approval stage
- Define and agree level of detail of capital project cost estimates with stakeholders to drive consistency and efficiencies
- Manage QS delivery partner performance and provide senior oversight across capital investment projects
- Assure QS delivery partner adherence to process and improve accuracy and timeliness in line with the client’s reporting cadence and accounting principles
- Drive greater cost and spend certainty through key engagement and oversight on projects to achieve realistic forecasts and meeting the budget
- Challenge and validate project costs through cost modelling and developing internal and external benchmark insights report
- Drive best value decisions to be made by using benchmark insights to identify trends and opportunities
- Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Cost Management, Quantity Surveying, Construction, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in cost management or construction projects (e.g. cost manager, construction manager, procurement, project manager, vendor, consultant etc.).
- Strong communication and leadership skills with experience in people management
- Strong business acumen, with the ability to drive outcomes on behalf of clients, develop new business, leverage current opportunities, and coordinate with construction and design teams to meet deadlines and deliverables
- Experience in client management with solid experience in client facing environment that requires incumbent to utilise critical business development skills and advisory skills to enhance project delivery on value management, value engineering, and life cycle costing.
- Oversee commercial and capital planning with a QS background (not purely QS, but client-side PMO focus).
- Act as a global advisor to the client, providing cost and commercial advice with high accountability and risk management.
- Present cost estimates confidently in meetings, ensuring protection of the client's interests.
- Justify and challenge client assumptions, demonstrating strong advisory skills and commercial acumen.
- Assertively challenge stakeholders on cost implications, ensuring alignment with scope, program, and strategy.
- Provide accurate numbers to clients, balancing workload with thoroughness and precision.
- Apply financial and commercial insight to question requests that do not align with sound financial perspectives.
- Leverage global team skillsets, knowing when to intervene in cost management discussions.
- Manage a team of 5–6 professionals, interacting with diverse stakeholders across regions.
- Lead QS and PM teams in project delivery, representing the client’s perspective.
- Hold project teams accountable, including having difficult conversations with principals to ensure performance standards are met.
