- Job Description
- Support the site’s NPD programme by developing new products and improving existing ones, working closely with key stakeholders across the business.
- Build and maintain positive customer relationships, enhancing confidence and trust in our innovation capabilities.
- Partner across departments to ensure we deliver high-quality, on-time projects for private label and branded customers.
- Leadership & Collaboration
- Work with the NPD, Process and Specification teams to deliver innovative, accurate, and compliant new products.
- Ensure concept development is completed effectively and on schedule for both brand and private label projects.
- Customer Focus
- Partner with commercial and marketing teams to deliver retailer and customer brand plans.
- Present new ideas and product amends to customers, supporting visits and audits.
- Develop strong, long-term relationships with customers and suppliers.
- Project Management
- Support project delivery to agreed timelines and budgets.
- Innovation & Creativity
- Stay ahead of food trends and explore new ingredients, packaging, and technologies.
- Translate consumer insights into innovative product ideas and present them to internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to NPD presentations and innovation forums across the business.
- Hands-on Development
- Create and prepare customer samples and mock-ups for presentations.
- Maintain accurate recipes and documentation for all products.
- Support product trials and smooth handover to process and technical teams.
- Understand the operational impact of new launches on production efficiency, consistency, and cost.
- Qualifications
- About You
- Degree (or equivalent) in Food Science or related discipline.
- 2–3 years’ experience in an NPD or similar role within the food manufacturing industry.
- A genuine foodie with a passion for innovation and an eye for trends.
- Experience working directly with major UK retailers.
- Strong organisational and project management skills — able to juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and SAP or similar systems.
- Calm, proactive, and adaptable with a hands-on, “can-do” attitude.
