Technical Design ManagerWe’re looking for a hands-on technical Design Manager to lead two small teams ensuring high-quality, safe, and efficient delivery of fabrication and maintenance projects. You’ll manage a small CAD team and a workshop of fabricators and maintenance staff, acting as the link between design, production, and the wider business.Key ResponsibilitiesLead, motivate, and manage CAD and workshop teamsPlan and schedule fabrication, maintenance, and design workloadsEnsure CAD drawings are accurate, practical, and fit for manufactureOversee quality, health & safety, and compliance standardsManage materials, procurement, stock levels, and costsAct as the key liaison between design, workshop, project office, and procurementDrive continuous improvement in processes, tools, and collaborationAbout YouProven experience in a workshop/fabrication environment, ideally in a leadership roleStrong understanding of fabrication, carpentry, machining, and maintenanceConfident using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar)Able to interpret and validate technical drawingsStrong leadership, organisation, and communication skillsHands-on, solutions-focused, and comfortable working to tight deadlinesSolid IT skills (MS Office) and good knowledge of health & safetyTrade or engineering qualification (desirable)CAD design experience and design-for-manufacture knowledgeMaintenance or facilities experienceSafety certifications (IOSH, First Aid, etc.)
