Location: Greyhope School
Duration: Permanent, Part Time - 21 hours

Roles that require PVG Membership

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £30,285 per annum / £16.64 per hour)

The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

About the role:
To support the leadership and management of the school/service, enabling the delivery of quality education through the appropriate involvement of the pupils, staff, parents, multi-disciplinary agencies and the community it serves. This will be done in accordance with the Authority’s Strategic Plan, the school’s/service’s Development Plan, National Priorities, Local Improvement Objectives, in accordance with current legislation, and within national and local agreements.

Requirements

Minimum Qualification(s) / Certificates / Memberships etc. required:

• Appropriate teaching qualification
• Full GTC (Scotland) Registration in the appropriate subject/sector
• PVG scheme membership

As a minimum, demonstrate skills and experience in:

• Standard for Full Registration
• Standard for Continued Professional Learning
• Standard for Middle Level Leadership

Responsibilities

The post holder will deliver the following outcomes:

Leadership

• Provide and promote leadership, good management and strategic direction in areas of work of the school
• Promote high expectations and standards through the provision of professional advice, reviewing professional needs and performance, and supporting continuous professional development of colleagues
• Take responsibility for aspects of curriculum development, learning and teaching and meeting learners’ needs
• Take responsibility for aspects of improvement planning and quality assurance

Partnership Working

• Work in partnership with parents, other professionals, agencies and other schools

Maintaining Professional Standards

• Meet and maintain the professional standards which are set by GTCS Code of Conduct and participate in the Scheme of Professional Update in accordance with the requirements set by GTCS
• Where a class teaching commitment is included in the remit of a headteacher or depute headteacher, its extent will be determined by the council on the basis of an assessment of the management content of the post
