We are looking for a skilled, enthusiastic person to join our vibrant Democratic Services Team. The role sits at the centre of the Council’s governance and decision making process and is crucial to the smooth and effective running of the Council.

You will be responsible for supporting the Council’s democratic structure and functions through the administration of Council and Committee meetings and decision making, including providing direct support to the Overview and Scrutiny Panels. You’ll provide advice and support to elected members and officers at all levels as well as supporting the team with wider governance projects.

You will:
– be self-motivated and well organised, able to prioritise your own workload and manage your time effectively
– have excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling you to draft formal reports and minutes and provide verbal advice in meetings
– have the ability to work with various IT packages including committee management systems
– be able to work calmly and confidently in a political environment

Attendance at evening meetings is an essential part of the role.
