Database Administrator (Contract) - 6 Months Outside IR35 Location: Glasgow (Hybrid)Rate: £475-£550 per dayContract: Outside IR35 An experienced Database Administrator is required to support a major public sector client on a business-critical programme. The role sits within an engineering-led environment and works closely with technical teams and stakeholders to ensure database platforms are secure, performant and resilient. Key Responsibilities Design and evolve database schemas in collaboration with engineering teamsMonitor, diagnose and resolve database and query performance issuesReview and optimise operational SQL, including use of stored proceduresManage database availability, security, backup, recovery and disaster recoveryPerform upgrades, migrations, patching and ongoing maintenanceSupport releases and deployments involving database changesSet and uphold database administration standards, capacity planning and best practice Required Experience 5+ years' experience with MySQL or MariaDB, specifically InnoDBStrong working knowledge of AWS data services (Aurora, RDS, DynamoDB)5+ years' experience in database performance management and tuning (schemas, indexes, SQL)Proven experience creating and reviewing SQL within an SCM-backed CI/CD lifecycleStrong background in schema design and lifecycle management (tables, indexes, constraints)Hands-on experience developing Stored Procedures and FunctionsExperience working collaboratively with wider engineering teams to design and
