We’re looking for a Data Quality Analyst to help establish a consistent and effective approach towards Data Quality across 1st Central. Your work will empower colleagues to understand and trust the data they use, unlocking the full potential to drive business value. In this role you’ll collaborate with Data Stewards and Data Custodians across the organisation to continuously improve Data Quality. You’ll champion the importance of high-quality data through engaging storytelling and a practical, business-focused approach. By enabling teams to optimise and trust the data they rely on, you’ll help foster a culture of confident decision-making, innovation, and experimentation, knowing that the data is reliable and any issues are being actively addressed. We're big on flexibility - you'll spend most of your time working from home, with the occasional visit to the office, but of course, it’s your choice - if you prefer to be in the office more - that's good with us too. We've offices located in Haywards Heath, West Sussex and Salford Quays, Manchester it’s your choice - or maybe you live further afield, we’ll accept applications for remote workers! Core skills we’re looking for to succeed in the role: Storytelling & Data Advocacy: You’ll use compelling narratives and analogies to communicate the importance of Data Quality, engaging colleagues and promoting a data-driven culture across the organisation. Microsoft Office Proficiency: You’ll have strong Excel skills, and will be competent in PowerPoint, Word, and Microsoft Teams for effective communication and collaboration. Data Tools & Technical Skills: A working knowledge of SQL and Databricks is essential. Communication: You’ll demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences, ensuring messages are easily understood and actionable. Time Management & Organisation: You’ll manage time effectively, prioritising tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Pragmatic Problem Solving: You’ll apply a practical and purposeful mindset, aligning recommendations with business objectives, and available resources. Collaboration: You’ll work effectively with cross-functional teams, facilitating group discussions to shape and agree on priorities, particularly in the development and enhancement of the Data Quality framework. What’s involved: You’ll support the delivery of the Data Quality Strategy to enable the achievement of overall business ambitions and outcomes. You’ll work with Data Stewards across the business to define, document and prioritise robust Data Quality rules. You’ll work with IT colleagues and the wider Data and Analytics team to embed key Data Quality rules. You’ll work with Data Stewards, IT colleagues and the wider Data and Analytics team to undertake diagnostic Data Quality profiling, defect resolution, and root cause analysis to meet regulatory requirements and to continuously improve the quality of our data. You’ll aid in the identification and mitigation of all key Data Quality risks. You’ll help to drive a culture of Data Quality by design, effectively engaging and partnering with colleagues across the business. You’ll aid in the facilitation of and be an active member of the Data Management Group. providing clear updates on progress and ensuring key issues are surfaced. You’ll promote a culture of agile working, accountability, continuous improvement, and psychological safety within the team and across the business. You’ll identify engaging mechanisms to communicate key Data Quality themes effectively to colleagues across the business. You’ll comply with the requirements, and act in accordance with, the Group Code of Conduct and Fitness and Propriety policies at all times. You’ll ensure compliance with Company Policies, Values and guidelines and other relevant standards/ regulations at all times. Experience & knowledge Good understanding of all aspects of Data Quality, including business rule definition, diagnostic profiling, defect resolution, and root cause analysis to drive continual improvement. Experience of assessing and driving improvement in Data Quality. Experience of taking complex information and translating into easily digestible information for less technical colleagues. Knowledge of FCA requirements (including individual responsibilities in relation to Consumer Duty). Experience of building strong mutually beneficial relationships across a business. Experience of driving continual improvement through agile ways of working. Experience of General Insurance practices and processes would be advantageous. Experience or an interest in leveraging Data Science, Machine Learning and/or AI in the area of Data Quality. Skills Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Good time management and organisation skills. Pragmatic and practical, for example looking for solutions in line with 1st Central’s Data Principles, business needs and available resources. Strong communication, for example conveying information to diverse audiences so that it is easily understood and actionable. Collaboration, for example driving group discussions to shape and agree priorities as we further develop our Data Quality framework. Relationship management, for example creating strong working relationships and building trust with internal and external stakeholders quickly. Storytelling, for example using stories and analogies to better communicate and connect with colleagues on the topic of Data Quality. Strong Excel skills as well as competency in PowerPoint, Word and Teams. Basic SQL and Databricks skills are essential. Behaviours Self-motivated and enthusiastic. Organised yet flexible in approach.
