Data is becoming an increasingly critical enabler of value across our transformation portfolio, and the Data Product Owner will work closely with data engineering, analytics, governance, and business stakeholders to ensure the UK Data Strategy is translated into actionable initiatives that drive measurable business outcomes. The Role: The Data Product Owner is a key role within the Hiscox UK Change team, focused on delivering value by shaping and driving data products, platforms, and solutions. Acting as the key interface between business, technology, and data teams, you will translate strategic data objectives into actionable initiatives that ensure data is accurate, accessible, and used effectively to deliver insight, efficiency, and growth. This role requires balancing business value with technical feasibility, ensuring that our data products are resilient, governed, and aligned with stakeholder needs. What you’ll be doing: Product Vision & Strategy: Develop and maintain a clear data product vision and roadmap aligned with both the UK Data Strategy and key strategic goals across the UK retail business. Translate business stakeholder needs into a compelling set of data initiatives and measurable outcomes. Backlog Management: Create, refine, and prioritise the data product backlog to ensure alignment with OKRs Define clear, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria to guide the development team. Prioritise incidents and business-as-usual activities against development team capacity and priorities. Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with business stakeholders and data & analytics teams to understand requirements and priorities. Act as the primary point of contact for the data product, facilitating clear communication between all parties. Value Delivery: Work closely with development teams to ensure timely delivery of high-quality solutions. Monitor and measure product performance, making data-driven decisions to optimise value Data Innovation and Governance: Ensure data builds drive transformational change using modern technologies, tooling, and analytical techniques. Ensure data products and processes adhere to internal data governance policies and regulatory standards. Continuous Improvement: Review and regularly update data products based on user feedback and changing business needs. User Experience and Data Literacy: Focus on creating user-friendly interfaces and promoting data literacy across the organisation. Promote ethical data practices in product development and usage. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other value streams and change initiatives to identify synergies and dependencies. Promote a culture of continuous improvement and agile practices within the team and across Hiscox UK Our must haves: Deep understanding of data technologies, data science, and data engineering. Knowledge of data modelling and enterprise data architecture concepts. Ability to interpret data insights and translate them into actionable business strategies. Experience with data governance frameworks and data quality management practices. Ability to align data initiatives with business goals and market trends Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities focused on delivering business value. Proven experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or similar role, ideally within insurance, financial services, or a comparable industry. Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels. A willingness and ability to help coach and develop others Our nice to haves: Financial services or insurance industry experience Familiarity with predictive models and automation techniques. Expertise in agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and familiarity with scaled agile frameworks (e.g., SAFe). Key Competencies: Data-Centric Mindset: Deep understanding of how data creates value.
