What you’ll be doing

  • Lead the Typhoon Defensive Aids Sub-System (DASS) strategy development activities (big picture strategy) for new and emerging programmes
  • Develop and maintain DASS development plan
  • Developing and maintaining an understanding of DASS (Typhoon and the wider landscape) and its interface/integration into the wider programme context
  • Leading DASS inputs for new business activities and supporting cost challenges
  • Support continued development of existing DASS capabilities
  • Provide support to the DAC design team
  • Act as the lead interface / focal point for designated contracts working across BAES & EF integration teams to coordinate activities across contracts, Suppliers, Customers (UK and NETMA)
  • Discharge work across multiple contracts, keeping to agreed programme timescales
  • Support DASS engineering manager in responding to emergent technical issues / new requirements

Your skills and experiences

  • A degree in a STEM subject or equivalent with relevant experience gained on an aircraft engineering project or related field
  • The ability to develop and present a range of complex data to a variety of stakeholders at different levels; from big picture strategy down to technical details
  • A good understanding of Defensive Aids Sub-system (DASS)/ Electronic Warfare (EW) / Sensors and their integration into the wider weapon system
  • The ability to identify and pro-actively resolve issues impacting programmes, escalating any issues for resolution by exception
  • Suitable for clearance up to SECRET on UK national and UK involved multi-national programmes

The Typhoon Defensive Aids Sub-System (DASS) Team

  • The successful candidate will have a good understanding of the Typhoon aircraft and Avionics and/or Sensors and an ability to work at all levels, from big picture down to technical details. This role presents an ideal opportunity to take the lead in shaping the future strategy of the Typhoon DASS and helping to secure future business opportunities. The role will involve working with a small group of engineers within a high performing engineering team with the opportunity to work closely with subject matter experts, both within the team and externally (Suppliers & Customers) to help further Typhoon DASS capabilities.
