ABOUT THIS JOB Position Specific Summary The Customer Service Representative position at the City of Tucson’s Business Services Department interacts with business owners and taxpayers to assist with issuing and maintaining business licenses as a part of the Taxpayer Assistance Division. This position provides general and specific information to taxpayers about City of Tucson requirements and refers taxpayers to other agencies to ensure compliance with their regulations. Work is performed under the supervision of the Financial Services Supervisor. This position does not supervise. Duties and Responsibilities Assists customers in person, over the phone, by email, or through the mail in determining proper business licensing. Provides direction and referrals regarding other agencies’ requirements to ensure compliance. Enters business license applications data into software system. Adds charges and generates bills to taxpayers within the licensing software. Submits applications for internal review as well as for other City departments review. Receives and completes applications for regulated license types. Verifies and Processes change requests such as business name changes, location and/or mailing address changes, and ownership changes in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system; May reach out to taxpayer for clarification. Receives Civil Union Registry registrations and terminations and verifies accuracy and completes processing by entering data into the Civil Union Registry database and filing forms. Sorts and distributes incoming mail for the division. Researches returned mail to validate correct addresses and ensure receipt of mail. Reviews data such as names and addresses for accuracy and completes data clean-up as needed. Sorts and files various business licensing documents as needed. Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned. Working Conditions Mostly office environment. All duties and responsibilities listed are subject to change. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: High school diploma or GED. Work Experience: One (1) year of relevant experience. Equivalency: Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated ability to read, write, and speak Spanish. At least one year of experience assisting customers in person.
