About the Role: As a Criminal Duty Solicitor, you’ll play a vital role in defending and supporting clients across a broad spectrum of criminal law matters. This is a dynamic and rewarding position, offering the chance to work on high-profile cases while developing your skills in a supportive environment. Key Responsibilities: Provide immediate legal advice and representation to clients at police stations (including 24/7 rota coverage)Represent clients at Magistrates’ Court hearings – including bail applications, plea hearings, trials and sentencingManage your own caseload across a variety of offences such as theft, drug-related crime, assault, domestic violence and public order offencesDraft and prepare essential legal documents, including case summaries, briefs to counsel and witness statementsWork closely with the CPS, police, courts and probation servicesEnsure compliance with Legal Aid Agency (LAA) regulations and maintain accurate client recordsSupport and mentor junior members of the team, including paralegals and traineesKeep up to date with developments in criminal law and legal aid requirements Your Requirements: We are seeking a motivated and dedicated solicitor with: Qualified Solicitor status (England & Wales) with a valid practising certificateDuty Solicitor Accreditation under the Legal Aid Agency’s Criminal Litigation Accreditation SchemeProven experience in criminal defence, with strong
