What You'll Be Doing:

As a Cover Supervisor, your main role is to supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of a teacher. You will not be required to actively teach, plan lessons, or mark work.

• Classroom Management: Supervise pupils carrying out pre-prepared exercises/work set by the absent teacher.
• Behaviour Management: Manage student behaviour in line with the school's policy to maintain a constructive and purposeful learning environment.
• Support & Guidance: Respond to general questions from pupils about the process or procedures of the work, keeping them on task and focused.
• Administration: Collect any completed work at the end of the lesson and return it to the teacher, and complete class registers.
• Reporting: Report back to the teacher on the progress, achievements, and any significant issues or incidents that arose during the lesson.
• Safeguarding: Deal with immediate problems or emergencies according to school policies and be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Skills & Qualities You'll Need:

We are looking for reliable and professional individuals with the ability to build rapport with young people quickly.

• The confidence and assertiveness to maintain good order and ensure pupils remain focused on the set work.
• Excellent verbal communication to give clear instructions and report feedback effectively to teachers.
• The ability to quickly take on classes across various subjects and adapt to different routines or unforeseen circumstances.
• Discrete and considerate when dealing with sensitive/confidential matters and a good understanding of safeguarding procedures.
