The Role:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Cover Supervisor to join a dedicated team. This crucial role involves supervising classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring that students remain focused, engaged, and on task with pre-prepared work. Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Supervise whole classes across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5 (ages 11-18) in the short-term absence of the assigned teacher.
- Effectively manage classroom behaviour according to the school's policy, promoting a positive and productive learning atmosphere.
- Ensure students complete the work that has been set by the absent teacher, providing help and guidance to keep them on task.
- Respond to general queries from students and provide relevant instructions to help them with their learning activity.
- Collect completed work at the end of the lesson and return it to the appropriate department for marking and review.
- Report any significant issues relating to student behaviour or health and safety to the relevant member of staff.
- Support the school's ethos and contribute to the positive learning culture throughout the day.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will be a professional, resilient, and engaging individual with a natural ability to command respect and motivate young people.
- Proven experience working with young people, ideally in a supervisory or educational capacity.
- Strong presence and excellent behaviour management skills, with the ability to manage groups of up to 30 students.
- High level of reliability and punctuality, as the role is essential to the continuity of the school day.
- Excellent verbal communication skills that allow for clear instruction and constructive interaction with students.
- A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to cover a wide range of subjects across the curriculum.
- A commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all students.
- A degree or equivalent qualification is desirable, though not essential, if relevant experience is demonstrated.
