The Opportunity
We are seeking a proactive and adaptable Cover Supervisor to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who is keen to gain experience within a Secondary School setting. You will be responsible for overseeing classes during short-term teacher absences, ensuring that students remain on-task with the work set for them. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong communication and behaviour management skills who can confidently lead a classroom and support student learning across a range of subjects.
Your Responsibilities
- Supervise lessons, ensuring that students complete the work provided by the absent teacher.
- Manage classroom behaviour, creating a productive and safe learning atmosphere.
- Answer student questions and provide assistance where appropriate, without teaching new material.
- Report on student progress and any issues that arise during the lesson to the relevant staff members.
- Maintain a professional and positive presence in the classroom.
- Ensure all school policies and procedures are followed.
- Safeguard the well-being and safety of students throughout the school day.
What We're Looking For
- A confident and authoritative presence with excellent communication skills.
- The ability to build a quick rapport with students and maintain good behaviour.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work across different subjects and age groups.
- A proactive and organised approach to work.
- An understanding of school procedures and a commitment to student safeguarding.
- Previous experience in a school or with young people is beneficial but not essential.
