About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Cover Supervisor to join a well-regarded secondary school in Leeds. This is a full-time, long-term position, starting immediately. The role is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with strong interpersonal skills and a passion for working with young people. As a Cover Supervisor, you will be a vital part of the school's daily operations, ensuring a consistent and productive learning environment for students during short-term teacher absences. You will not be responsible for lesson planning or marking, but instead, you will focus on managing the classroom, supervising pre-prepared work, and maintaining a positive and focused atmosphere. This role is a brilliant stepping stone for aspiring teachers or for anyone with experience working with young people who wants to take on a new challenge.

Requirements

• Previous experience working with young people, ideally in an educational setting.
• A genuine passion for education and supporting young people's learning.
• Eligibility to work in the UK.
• Enhanced Child DBS on the updated service (Willingness to apply for one)

• Strong classroom management and behaviour management abilities.
• Adaptability and flexibility to work across different subjects and year groups.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervising pre-set work and ensuring students remain on task.
• Managing classroom behaviour in line with the school's policies.
• Responding to student questions and providing support with given tasks.
• Promoting a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
• Collecting completed work and returning it to the appropriate teacher.
• Recording and reporting student attendance.
• Providing feedback to teachers on student progress and behaviour.
• Dealing with immediate problems or emergencies in the classroom.
• Upholding the school's safeguarding and child protection policies.
• Collaborating with other staff, including teaching assistants, to support students.
