YLD is not your typical consultancy. We’re a close-knit team of engineers, designers, and thinkers who believe software should leave a legacy—long after we’ve stepped away. With offices in London, Lisbon, and Porto, we work remotely and globally. Our mission? Empowering clients by helping them build capabilities, not just code. We pride ourselves on putting people first. That means you’ll grow here—not just professionally, but personally.
Our client is a leading force in the media and entertainment industry. We're seeking a skilled Python backend engineer to contribute to take ownership of key initiatives for our client's streaming and media handling platforms. You’ll be part of a remote-first team building scalable backend services that support the core media infrastructure.
This is a high-impact, remote-first role within a collaborative team that values innovation, autonomy, and end-to-end ownership.
As a Senior Python Backend Engineer, you’ll take ownership of features and architecture, work on cloud infrastructure, and co-create in an environment that thrives on code reviews, pair programming, and test-first development. Your typical day might include:
- Building and refining scalable backend systems using Python
- Designing infrastructure on AWS and implementing robust CI/CD pipelines
- Writing clean, tested code that supports millions of users worldwide
- Collaborating closely with a global, diverse team of engineers
- Advocating for best practices, continuous improvement, and thoughtful architecture
- Showcasing your work in regular demos, and giving and receiving feedback
- You have strong Python experience and have built backend services using Django
- You’re familiar with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and tools like Terraform, CDK, or CloudFormation
- You understand how to ship code with confidence—through CI/CD, testing, and monitoring
- You’re comfortable with Docker, Kubernetes, and scalable system design
- You know your way around relational and schema-less databases
- You bring a collaborative spirit and love helping others grow
- Bonus points if you’ve dabbled in Go or Node.js, or have experience with GraphQL and gRPC.
- A genuinely remote-first culture with flexible hours and work-life balance
- The chance to work with a supportive, ethical, and inspiring team
- An opportunity to leave your mark on meaningful, high-impact projects
- A place where your voice is heard—and your ideas shape the product
- 1st Interview with someone from the Talent team (30/45 mins)
- Technical Interview with our Senior Engineers (1h30)
- Meet and Discussion with a Client Partner (15/30 mins)
- Growing every day
- Including everyone
- Relationships built on honesty and ethics
- Inspiring solutions
- Winning together
We’re an equal-opportunity employer and value diversity of all kinds. We don’t discriminate based on race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, pregnancy or maternity, age, marital status, or disability status. Likewise, we also offer a remote-first working environment, meaning that flexible working and work-life balance come as standard for all employees.
We're a software engineering and design consultancy, helping your team succeed by fostering a progressive culture of learning.
