Deliver expert AML guidance & remediation within OpCo’s First Line of Defence, focusing on complex, high risk customer scenarios (e.g., trusts, layered corporate structures, cross border exposure). Ensure AML controls are embedded effectively in front line processes and aligned to SPW’s Financial Crime Policy and regulatory expectations. Role | Complex AML Assistant Manager Type | Fixed-term contract until 31/12/2026 Salary | £41,205- £45,325 Key Accountabilities Complex Case Advisory Lead technical reviews for complex CDD/EDD, PEP/sanctions hits, adverse media, trusts/TCSP scenarios, offshore arrangements, and unusual transactional patterns. Decide and document the EDD pathway, risk classification, and rationale; recommend mitigating controls or exit where risk exceeds appetite. Act as the go‑to SME for complex CDD/EDD, PEP/sanctions hits, adverse media, and unusual transactional patterns. Quality assurance & thematic reviews Run targeted QA on complex onboarding and review cohorts; perform thematic deep‑dives (e.g., trusts, complex corporates, high‑risk geographies). Track remediation actions through closure with clear root‑cause analysis and control redesign. Escalates material issues via Fraud & Financial Crime governance into Risk Committee structures, following policy Knowledge Enablement Coach front‑line colleagues on complex AML scenarios. Develop concise training materials and deliver case clinics. Outcomes & KPIs Right‑first‑time complex case decisions (EDD pathway accuracy, reduced re‑work). Control effectiveness uplift (monitoring parameter reviews completed; issues closed to plan). Timeliness (complex case turnaround vs. SLA; remediation timetables met). Quality (QA defect rates; SAR narrative quality benchmarks). Capability (training completion, assessment scores; uptake of SME guidance). Skills, knowledge & experience (must‑have) Expert knowledge of UK AML/CTF regime and guidance (MLR 2017 & amendments, JMLSG, FCA SYSC/FGs), with practical application to wealth/retail investment contexts, trusts and complex customer structures. Strong EDD judgement for high‑risk scenarios (PEP/sanctions/adverse media; complex SoW/SoF). Proficiency with screening/monitoring tools and parameter calibration; confident using data to evidence risk decisions. Clear, concise writing—able to produce defensible case rationales and training assets. Stakeholder influence across Lines of Defence; calm under pressure with sound risk‑based decision‑making.
