- 1. Rounds on all Med-Surg patient care areas, assisting as needed and offering clinical expertise, coaching, and just-in-time teaching, to novice RNs and other Med Surg staff.
- 2. Provides safe, high-quality, and age-appropriate care in all assigned areas, deploying to various units as needed by the Nursing Supervisor.
- 3. Provides guidance and support to less experienced nursing staff, fostering clinical competence, confidence, and professional development.
- 4. Promotes the effective use of the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) in patient care, and ensures proper documentation aligned with Nursing PI activities.
- 5. Assist with patient assessments throughout the hospital admission, including physical, psychological, social, and discharge planning dimensions, and communicates findings with the interdisciplinary team.
- 6. In conjunction with the primary RN, Administers and monitors the effects of medications and responds to changes in patient condition promptly and effectively.
- 7. Supports staff by transporting and assisting patients in radiology and other ancillary departments.
- 8. Maintains proficiency in nursing informatics systems and ensures accurate, timely electronic documentation in collaboration with the primary RN.
- 9. Collaborates with Nursing Education to stay informed of new initiatives, acting as a unit-level resource for education rollouts and best practices.
- 10. Models service excellence and maintains professionalism when interacting with patients, families, staff, and the community.
- 11. Adheres to infection control and hospital safety protocols including those related to blood and body fluid exposure.
- 12. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Nursing Supervisor to support departmental operations and patient care
- • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred.
- • Current and valid Massachusetts RN license.
- • (BLS) - Current Basic Life Support certification
- • (ACLS) – Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification
- • (De-escalation) - Completion of an approved De-escalation Certification Course (obtain within 90 days, offered within)
- • CCHC Pharmacology Exam (successfully pass)
- • CCHC Basic Arrythmia Exam (successfully pass)
- • 3–5 years of recent acute care Med/Surg experience (within last 2 years) – Required
- • Telemetry experience – Required
- • Experience in precepting, mentoring, or education – Preferred
- • Strong communication, critical thinking, and leadership abilities
- • Demonstrated ability to coach and support novice nurses
- • Proficiency in electronic documentation systems
- • Commitment to service excellence and teamwork
