Our Bachelor of Community Services students are required to undertake 2 x 200 hour placements in the community services sector placements during their course. Work integrated learning (WIL) is one of the most important parts of student’s education – an opportunity to integrate theory and practice through authentic placements as frontline community workers. Students get the chance to explore the diverse range of roles across the sector and also benefit immensely with constructive feedback from experienced professionals. This role is responsible for ensuring high quality Work-Integrated Learning for students through the provision of safe, timely, appropriate and sufficient community services placement experiences in line with curriculum requirements and industry accreditation requirements. This role has internal and external stakeholders and works as part of a national team. Day-to-day accountabilities: Placement coordination Secure placement allocations from organisations aligned to Australian Community Worker Association (ACWA) requirements. Student preparation and placement experience Work with the WIL Learning Facilitator and the Academic Placement teaching team to ensure students are aware of requirements for placement in a timely manner including placement allocation logbook and mandatory requirements (such as immunisations etc) in accordance with local requirements). This includes class visits, orientation presentations and responding to student queries in a timely manner. Industry relationships Establish, develop and maintain professional relationships with relevant organisations in public, private and not for profit sectors including. Who you are - To be successful in this role, you will have: A minimum of Masters Level Degree in a welfare or community work-related discipline. Valid National Police Check and Working with Children clearance. Minimum of 3 years practical experience in a community services or related setting. Demonstrated teaching experience in the HE sector. Detailed understanding of ACWA accreditation requirements. A strong knowledge in specific subject areas combined with a broad disciplinary background enabling contributions to the Community Services Program. Proactively identifies student and business needs and proposes value-adding solutions. Why join us?
