An exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join The Birches Respite Team has become available. The team provides health care and support to children and young people with complex health needs across a variety of settings within the community. The service provides care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week so a willingness to work shifts, including night shifts, is essential.
You will be supported to learn clinical skills such as tracheostomy care, gastrostomy feeding, suction (etc) utilising a competency-based framework. Once competent and confident, you will be expected to work without direct supervision within the scope of your training Experience working with children or young people who require long-term ventilation or have complex health needs would be beneficial but not essential.

As a children’s carer, your role will be delivering health care and support to children and young people in a variety of settings. This could mean providing hands-on care in the family home, supporting a child or young person to attend school or staffing the respite unit. The ability to travel independently during working time is essential.
