Job Title: Childcare Solicitor

Ref: Hartlepool 5278340

Pay rate: £47.03 per hour PAYE

Role length: Anticipated 6 months

DBS requirement: Enhanced DBS



The role:

We are seeking an ambitious and dedicated Childcare Solicitor to play a key role in providing comprehensive, efficient and effective legal services relating to child protection and public law proceedings.

In order to carry out this role, you will need to be a qualified law professional with a strong background in childcare law with the ability to maintain your own caseload and experience of attending court.



Key responsibilities:

Assist in the preparation and progression of legal proceedings, particularly in the area of child care/protection
Undertake legal research and provide accurate and timely legal advice on local government law
Attend court and tribunals to support the legal team, conduct advocacy (subject to rights of audience), and ensure the Council fulfils its legal obligations
Maintain your own caseload with supervision, progressing to independent management as experience develops
Support the implementation of legal systems (such as Iken), service level agreements, and performance reporting tools
Keep up to date with changes in legislation, policy, and case law affecting local government and childcare law
Contribute to the development of Council policies and legal procedures.
Supervise junior members of the legal team, when required



What the client is looking for:

A qualified lawyer, solicitor or fellow of the institute of legal executives
A strong academic background in law
Experience in childcare/protection law and public law proceedings
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
