  • Our home insurance cover has a 5* rating and is one of the fastest growing products in our multi-service proposition. As we grow and develop our Insurance proposition, we need an experienced Insurance Product Manager to own our Home Insurance and Specialist Lines Categories. The current product suite includes Home Insurance, Boiler Protection and Income Protection products.

Here's the knowledge, skills & experience we're looking for

  • Deep Home Insurance Knowledge: Expert-level understanding of home insurance products, policy wordings, underwriting rules, and the home insurance trading environment. Experience of protection products would also be highly beneficial.
  • Product Development/Management Experience: Experience in managing the lifecycle of an insurance product, including defining product strategy, developing features, and translating business goals into technical requirements for engineering teams.
  • Product Governance: An understanding of relevant financial services regulation and experience completing Product Reviews, Fair Value Assessments, and other product governance
  • Technical Acumen (Product/Engineering Squad): Ability to work effectively with technical teams (Product/Engineering), translate complex insurance concepts into user stories or features, and understand the technical implications of product changes
  • Proven experience in managing and negotiating with third-party insurers, underwriters, or reinsurers. This includes managing contracts, service levels, and performance. You'll be a strong negotiator
  • Escalated Complaint Resolution: Experience handling complex, high-stakes customer complaints, demonstrating sound judgment, empathy, and a focus on fair outcomes.
  • FOS (Financial Ombudsman Service) Knowledge: Specific, in-depth experience with the FOS complaint process, including reviewing, preparing, and approving formal responses to FOS disputes, and implementing lessons learned from FOS decisions.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Ability to gather, analyse, and interpret various data sets (e.g., sales, claims, complaints, audit data, financial performance) to inform product strategy and assess fair value
  • Commercial Acumen: The ability to spot commercial opportunities and help bring them to life across the sales and servicing product lifecycle

  • As an Insurance Category Manager, you will report to the Head of Insurance, within the Financial Services commercial team. This role will have a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including Product, Engineering and Compliance, as well as a range of 3rd party insurers, underwriters and reinsurers.

This is a newly created position that will have a big impact on driving the growth of our Home Insurance and Specialist lines categories. You'll be the subject matter expert for all non-motor insurance products at UW. This will include

  • Managing product performance to ensure we deliver good customer outcomes and achieve the UW target results
  • Managing the product development and product governance processes, including delivering Annual Product Reviews and Fair Value Assessments
  • Working with the Product / Engineering squad to define the product roadmap
  • Being the point of escalation for all complex product queries, supporting our wider teams across customer service operations, compliance and technology
  • Managing insurance supplier relationships
  • Conducting market research and support the insurance strategy process
