If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you! We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Caretaker to be the heart of a vibrant school in the Leeds area. Your role will be crucial in maintaining a secure, clean, and functional environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out general repairs and upkeep of the school premises, including minor plumbing, carpentry, and electrical tasks. You'll be proficient with a wide range of hand and power tools (e.g., drills, saws, sanders) and be able to interpret technical drawings.
Ensure the school's security at all times by locking and unlocking the site, monitoring CCTV and alarm systems, and controlling access for staff and visitors.
Uphold the highest standards of health and safety by performing regular risk assessments, ensuring compliance with legislation, and safely using and storing all equipment.
Assist with basic grounds maintenance (e.g., using lawnmowers, strimmers) and provide essential support services, such as assisting with deliveries and setting up for school events.
Provide support to teaching staff and assist with the organisation and supervision of school trips and events, ensuring the site is ready for all school activities.
Person Specification:
Proven experience in building maintenance and repair.
Proficiency in using a wide range of hand and power tools.
Ability to read and interpret basic technical drawings and diagrams.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good time management and organisational skills.
Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for school events.
Commitment to child safety and well-being.
Basic IT skills.
GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
Relevant trade qualifications (e.g., plumbing, carpentry) are desirable.
A First Aid qualification and experience working in an educational setting are desirable.
