Robert Half Technology are assisting a market leading financial services organisation to recruit a Business Data Analyst on a 6 month contract to perm basis. Onsite required - London based This role sits at the intersection of data, operations, and business strategy, with a strong focus on improving middle office processes, enhancing reporting capabilities, and driving automation initiatives. You will work closely with Operations, Finance, Technology, and Front Office stakeholders to analyse business processes, identify efficiency opportunities, and deliver scalable data-driven solutions. Role The Business Data Analyst will analyse complex datasets to support operational, financial, and regulatory reportingDevelop and maintain SQL queries and data models to support business intelligence and reporting needsUse Python to automate workflows, improve data quality checks, and streamline recurring processesBuild and maintain advanced Excel models and reporting tools (including Power Query, Power Pivot, VBA where applicable)Review and optimise middle office processes, identifying control gaps and automation opportunitiesPartner with stakeholders to gather business requirements and translate them into technical solutionsDrive process automation initiatives to improve accuracy, reduce manual intervention, and increase scalabilitySupport reconciliation, valuation, and trade lifecycle analysis where requiredContribute to data governance, documentation, and control frameworksAssist with system enhancements and implementation projects Profile The Business Data Analyst will have strong SQL skills (query writing, joins, performance optimisation, data manipulation)Proficiency in Python for data analysis and automation (e.g., pandas, scripting, APIs)Advanced Excel skills (complex formulas
