DevOps Engineer We are looking for a highly capable DevOps Engineer to join us in an ongoing and long term role. We want someone who will take the time to understand our environment in depth and support us consistently over time. The ideal person will have very fluent English, very strong communication skills, and the ability to work close to UK working hours. Preference will be given to an AWS certified engineer. About the role You will help design, maintain, and enhance our AWS based containerised environment that supports a SaaS application and a supporting API. The role covers the full DevOps lifecycle from build and deployment through monitoring, security, automation, and ongoing support. Key responsibilities • Maintain and improve our containerised AWS environment • Build, optimise, and support GitHub Actions pipelines for CI and CD across multiple repos • Review and enhance all CI and CD workflows for reliability, quality, automation, and performance • Support container builds for both front end and API workloads • Set up robust infrastructure as code using Terraform or AWS CDK • Harden the cloud environment Security, monitoring, audit trails, logging, network controls, and identity management • Create and maintain security guardrails including IAM, VPC configuration, encryption, secret management, and patching processes • Support and extended automated monitoring, alerting, and logging using CloudWatch, GuardDuty, CloudTrail, and supporting tools • Optimise performance, resilience, and cost across the full environment • Support troubleshooting, triage, and release management • Provide regular improvements to architecture, pipelines, and operational practice • Work closely with our developers to ensure smooth deployment and production stability • Build long term understanding of our architecture and support its evolution Required skills • Fluent English and clear communication skills • Strong practical experience with AWS container services • Deep experience with GitHub Actions for building, testing, and deploying applications • Solid understanding of Docker, multi stage builds, and production ready containers • Good command of AWS ECS or Kubernetes on AWS • Strong understanding of AWS fundamentals including networking, IAM, EC2, RDS, ALB and CloudFront • Preferred hands on experience with Terraform or AWS CDK • Experience designing secure and compliant production environments • Ideally practical knowledge of SOC2 security requirements • Strong understanding of logging, monitoring, and alerting in AWS • Ability to design and improve DevOps processes • Experience supporting high availability systems • Capability to work near UK hours • AWS certification preferred • Strong reliability and trustworthiness • High efficiency and a self starter mindset Nice to have • Understanding of cloud cost management • Familiarity with Cloudflare Zero Trust • Previous work within a SaaS environment Personal qualities • Reliable, proactive, and consistent • Strong problem solver who is calm under pressure • Self starter who takes ownership and follows through • Clear communicator who keeps stakeholders informed • Committed to building knowledge of our environment over time Engagement details • Long term and ongoing role for the right person • Part time initially with the option to scale • Work must be performed close to UK time zone • Strong communication and regular updates required
