- The Associate Terminal Operator’s duties shall involve working within a small team, working 12 hour shifts on a rotating basis which will include working both day and night shifts. The role will primarily be to facilitate the safe receipt of hydrocarbon products into storage from vessels moored at either of terminals two jetties. Once safely in storage they will be jointly responsible for monitoring those inventories and then handling the subsequent export of those products either by sea or by pipeline.
Other duties will include
- · Monitoring plant conditions using computers/tablets and other handheld devices, to ensure they remain in a safe state and any abnormal conditions that arise are investigated and addressed promptly and effectively.
- · Undertake a range of safety critical activities including shift handovers, monitoring of high level alarm systems, hydrocarbon detection systems and interceptors, carrying out inspections of tankage and the testing of fixed and portable firefighting systems.
- · Routine testing of alarms and terminal ESD systems.
- · Perform periodic additive injection processes as and when the business requires it.
- · Ensuring adherence to the documented Valero standards and procedures for the storage, handling and quality control of all products, and to work with terminal management ensuring continual improvement.
- · Working to ensure that the terminal operates to the requirements of a top tier COMAH establishment following Valero documented procedures regarding all matters of safety, security and the environment to minimise the risk of prosecution, accidents and pollution.
- · Works with facility management to reduce waste, report incidents and apply Occupational Health controls to reduce risk of injury.
- · Carries out regular site inspections, process monitoring and ensuring that facilities are operated in a manner that provides a safe environment for employees and contractors.
- · Assists with the terminal maintenance requirements by recording any concerns or faults in the Maintenance Management System.
