About

The Role

Do you want to be a Chief Marketing Officer? With the right amount of grit and perseverance, you can become one within months (not years) of completing your MBA.

If you have a background in marketing and want to lead marketing teams while training to become a B2B SaaS marketing executive, you’ve come to the right place.

Kalungi is expanding. We are hiring ambitious, talented MBA marketers who want to get their hands dirty and rapidly grow their careers. This is a rare opportunity to become an expert in B2B SaaS marketing while leading startup marketing teams in their journeys toward exponential growth.

Kalungi focuses on B2B SaaS startups, building and managing their marketing functions and guiding them through go-to-market strategy, positioning, customer segmentation, building marketing teams, and all other marketing-related tasks.

The role will start with up to six months of on-the-job training as you shadow an experienced fractional CMO. You will work with clients, learn the consultative process and gain an understanding of the standard of work which is expected. Moreso, you will be the CMO’s right hand, with the ultimate goal of replacing them as a marketing leader for their client. Following this period, you will take point servicing our clients as their marketing leader, working hands-on with early-stage startups to launch their products, get them to product-market fit, grow ARR, and optimize CAC/cost to service in creative ways.

All hires will participate in a "probationary period" to train employees and determine if the role is a good fit. The probationary period is 3 to 6 months, depending on performance. This position is remote. Timezone will depend on the clients you’re working with; however, you will mostly work with team members on both EST and PST.

Employees receive healthcare (if living in the US) and unlimited vacation.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the marketing team for up to two of our clients at a time.
    • Move clients from MVP to PMF and exponential growth.
    • Drive positioning, segmentation & messaging.
    • Own product pricing, go-to-market, and launch strategy.
    • Optimize and improve clients’ online presence.
    • Build channel partnerships and referral campaigns.
    • Develop branding, PR programs, and trademarks.
    • Lead content marketing & thought leadership.

  • Take ownership of demand generation and pipeline creation, meeting monthly and quarterly MQL & pipeline targets.
  • Measure and act on SaaS funnel metrics, including CAC, LTV, payback period, etc.
  • Manage campaign performance across paid search, paid social, and third-party lead gen platforms.
  • Measure, analyze, and report campaign performance to clients’ leadership teams.
  • Work with clients to plan, promote, and leverage events, trade shows, and webinars with attributable results.
  • Have a deep understanding of marketing automation systems. HubSpot knowledge is a big plus.
  • Productize Kalungi’s services to constantly improve and scale further.

Our Core Values

At Kalungi, we want to stand for more than just the outcomes of our daily work. How we do our work, who we work with, and why we do this, is critical. Here are our core values to keep us grounded as a company. We apply these for hiring, development, evaluation, coaching, prioritizing, and celebrating our work.

  1. We love our craft

We are passionate, curious, and inquisitive about our work. We have fun, infuse soulfulness, and don’t take ourselves too seriously. We pursue mastery, hold ourselves to high standards, and seek to define the best practices in our industry. We’re lifelong learners who grow by challenging ourselves and sharing skills with others.

  1. We execute for results

We believe in doing the right things, not more things. We recognize that a great strategy is only an idea without excellent follow-through. So, we constantly ask “why” to understand every project’s place in the big picture, ground ideas pragmatically, and execute for results with a calculated blend of speed and quality.

  1. We lead with integrity

At the core of our foundation is integrity—a commitment to kindness, honesty, and accountability. Our actions match our words. We operate with good intentions and build productive, positive relationships.

  1. We foster open dialogue

We thrive in a culture of open dialogue. We actively give, receive, and seek honest, clear feedback, then find opportunities to act on it. Transparency is our guiding principle, where spirited debate is encouraged, feedback is constructive, and we commit to continual improvement.

  1. We act as one team

Collaboration is our heartbeat. We avoid silos, embrace the interdependence of our roles, and understand that our collective strength is what makes us unique. Alignment towards shared goals keeps us productive and efficient. We celebrate our successes and support each other through challenges.

We are very excited about the opportunity of working with you! We look forward to hearing from you.
