Role OverviewThe Assistant Quantity Surveyor will support the commercial team in managing the financial and contractual aspects of construction projects from procurement through to final account. The role is designed to develop a strong understanding of cost control, subcontractor management, valuations and project profitability while working closely with site teams, suppliers and clients.This is a development role suited to someone early in their QS career who wants structured exposure to real commercial responsibility.Key ResponsibilitiesCommercial & Cost ManagementAssist with preparation of project budgets and cost plansMonitor project costs and maintain cost value reconciliation (CVR)Track variations, delays and additional worksSupport the preparation of monthly cost reportsAssist in financial forecasting and profit trackingReview labour, plant and material costs against budgetSubcontractor ProcurementIssue enquiries and obtain quotations from subcontractors and suppliersAnalyse and compare tender returnsAssist in preparing subcontractor comparisons and recommendationsDraft and issue subcontract ordersMaintain approved supplier databaseValuations & PaymentsAssist in preparation of interim valuations and applications for paymentMeasure works completed on siteAssess subcontractor payment applicationsPrepare payment notices and certificatesAssist with final accounts and retention releaseContract AdministrationSupport management of contracts (typically JCT/NEC)Maintain project documentation and change recordsTrack and log variationsAssist with contractual notices an
