- Job Description
- The Frasers UK Group has around 70 separate VAT registrations across numerous corporate entities covering many different activities (Retail, Property, IP & Licensing).
- As we continue to grow, we need to expand the tax department in order to manage our tax compliance obligations and add value through identifying tax opportunities.
The role will work within the in-house tax team on
- Gathering data to draft quarterly UK VAT returns
- Preparing the returns for review by the Senior Indirect Tax Manager
- VAT returns submission to HMRC
- IOSS/overseas VAT returns submissions
- Other indirect tax-related matters
- This is a fast-paced environment with huge potential for being able to identify and solve problems, adding value to the business and making a huge impact.
- Working with both the current accounting system (DREAM) and the new Dynamics 365 system (from 2026 onwards), preparing the data for inclusion in the relevant quarterly VAT returns
- Investigating review points raised by the Senior Indirect VAT Manager
- Managing the VAT returns process – ensuring that due dates and quarters are recorded correctly, adding new entities, updating if they are deregistered
- Making sure that VAT returns are submitted on time and payments requested
- Resolving Errors corrections – in accounting system
- IOSS/overseas VAT submissions
- Preparing options to tax for property transactions and VAT registrations and de-registrations
- Supporting the maintenance and improvement of VAT processes and controls
- Identifying VAT risks, errors, or anomalies in the accounting system and escalating appropriately
- Assisting with VAT health checks across entities
- Assisting the wider finance team to improve VAT data quality at source
- Assisting with responses to HMRC queries and information requests
- Filing VAT documentation, registrations, and correspondence records appropriately
- Providing Group Finance and/or external auditors and advisers with VAT-related information when required
- Maintaining a good working relationship with HMRC and other Frasers colleagues outside the tax team
