Overview
Reaseheath College is a forward thinking and dynamic College providing an excellent educational experience to over 4,500 students a year. Situated within the grounds of the College is the Reaseheath Mini Zoo and Animal Management Centre which is used by students and open to the public during school holidays and at weekends. The team now have an exciting opportunity for an Animal Keeper.
Due to continuous expansion within the Reaseheath Mini Zoo and Animal Management Centre, we now have three permanent positions available.
Key responsibilities:
- Supervise the work of a variety of students and visitors accessing the animal collection
- Support Animal Management lecturers and cross college staff in order to deliver an outstanding student experience
- Ensure the care of animals on the unit is maintained to a high standard including maintenance and security of the Animal Management Centre
- Ensure effective stock control and husbandry in liaison with the Zoo Manager, including the quarantining of specimens, in order to comply with the highest departmental and industry animal welfare standards and legislation
- Assist the Animal Centre and Curriculum Managers in the day-to-day running of the centre in order to ensure all team members are fully informed of matters that may affect them
- Minimum level 2 qualification
- Minimum Level 2 Maths and English (GCSE Maths & English grade C or above)
- First Aid at work qualification or willingness to work towards
- Ability to work weekends or evenings as required
