As part of Team Amex, you’ll experience this powerful backing with comprehensive support for your holistic well-being and many opportunities to learn new skills, develop as a leader, and grow your career.
  • Here, your voice and ideas matter, your work makes an impact, and together, you will help us define the future of American Express.
  • About the UK Brand Team
  • The UK Brand Team, part of the Demand Generation function within International Card Services, leads the creative and strategic development of campaigns that bring the Powerful Backing of American Express to life.
  • We’re a dynamic team of marketers passionate about creating work that deepens customer engagement, drives acquisition, and strengthens brand consideration in the UK. We partner across the enterprise to deliver integrated, insight-driven campaigns that balance creativity, rigour, and measurable business impact.
  • About the Role
  • We’re looking for a dynamic and passionate Brand Executive to lead our BTL marketing activity for the Consumer business. Acting as a subject-matter expert for below-the-line and content marketing, this role will be central to ensuring all BTL activity — from creative development to media execution — delivers best-in-class results and stays true to our brand promise.
  • As a brand guardian for one of the most recognisable brands in the world, you will play an integral role in driving marketing excellence, ensuring all work developed across the business aligns with brand guidelines and positions the brand in the best possible light.
  • This role will be the content expert and brand governance lead for our BTL communications, responsible for reviewing and approving all enterprise BTL creative materials and providing clear, actionable feedback to uphold both brand and regulatory standards.
  • You’ll also have a direct impact on driving customer engagement, acquisition, and brand consideration through creative, insight-led BTL marketing and storytelling.
  • You’ll also play a key role in Amex Unsigned — our award-winning music platform that champions emerging UK artists and connects the brand with audiences through culture and creativity. Working with agency partners, you’ll help shape content and partnership strategy for Unsigned, ensuring it continues to deliver cultural relevance and measurable business outcomes.
  • Key Responsibilities
  • BTL Strategy & Execution: Lead the development and delivery of BTL campaigns for our overall brand activity across direct and digital channels.
  • Agency & Stakeholder Management: Manage relationships with creative, media, and production agencies, ensuring campaigns are on-brand, compliant, and impactful.
  • Performance & Reporting: Support measurement and reporting of campaign performance, identifying learnings and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Project Management: Oversee timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure smooth execution of all campaigns and brand initiatives.
  • Content & Media Expertise: Provide strategic input on content creation and BTL media planning to drive engagement and optimise performance.
  • BTL Brand Stewardship: Act as the BTL brand guardian for the UK, reviewing and approving BTL creative assets to ensure alignment with brand guidelines, tone, and positioning.
  • Upskilling & Brand Governance: Champion brand excellence across the enterprise — upskilling marketing teams, guiding creative consistency, and embedding best-in-class marketing practices.
  • Amex Unsigned Activation: Play a key role in the planning and delivery of the Amex Unsigned programme — leading on sponsorships, stakeholder collaboration, and the execution of live events, mentorship, and content initiatives that strengthen our cultural connection with consumers.
  • Skills & Qualifications
  • Proven experience in B2C marketing, ideally with a focus on BTL (including social and digital audio), content, and compliance-reviewed campaigns.
  • Excellent understanding of brand governance and marketing approval processes.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with experience liaising across creative, compliance, and business functions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a passion for upholding creative standards.
  • Solid understanding of BTL media channels and how they integrate with broader brand and acquisition strategies.
  • Experience managing agencies and multiple stakeholders.
  • Passion for music, culture, and brand storytelling — a strong advantage.
  • Proactive, organised, and able to balance multiple priorities.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of the music ecosystem (promoters, distributors, publishers, labels, artists).
  • Intellectually curious, dynamic team player, not afraid to challenge the status quo.
  • Why American Express
  • At American Express, we’re committed to backing our customers, colleagues, and communities — and to creating work that reflects that powerful promise.
  • In this role, you’ll play a central part in protecting and elevating one of the world’s most recognisable brands, ensuring our marketing communications consistently meet the highest standards of creativity, compliance, and effectiveness. You’ll also help shape how we connect with audiences through culture, content, and creativity — from core brand campaigns to the industry-leading Amex Unsigned platform.
