Job Purpose Location: Hybrid working with a minimum of 3 days per week in the Leeds office Salary: £28,000 - £35,000 Deadline to Apply: 17th October 2025. Early submission is encouraged, and applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis In this role you will contribute to shaping the strategic approach and investment outcomes of the organisation – through delivery of high-quality research, data, and economic appraisal – to maximise its impact on climate change and regional and local economic growth. The role sits in the Impact team of the National Wealth Fund. The impact team is responsible for defining, assessing, and evaluating impact and additionality of the Fund’s investments and activities as well as shaping and influencing policy. We are an inclusive, diverse and welcoming team of over 20 economists, analysts and professionals. The impact team works closely with the Banking team that are responsible for deploying the Fund’s capital and leading commercial transactions. Team members support the impact assessment of deals, sectoral analysis of priority sectors, relevant spatial analysis, and applying our impact framework. This includes identifying and applying relevant metrics for measuring impact and delivering our monitoring and evaluation strategy. The team is also responsible for embedding Environmental, Social, Resilience and Governance (ESG) standards in the Fund’s investments. Key Responsibilities Supporting the assessment of potential NWF investments against our Net Zero and growth objectives. Supporting the Impact team with data driven and evidenced positions to feed into investment decision making, using economic and environmental, social, resilience and governance (ESRG) data, assessed using a range of internal NWF analytical models and processes. Working with teams across NWF to track and report on the actual impact of NWF investments against our monitoring and evaluation framework. Assisting the collation of evidence from relevant sources, including impact metrics, sectors, and specific technologies, to improve understanding of impact and additionality of the National Wealth Fund’s activities. Undertaking research and liaising with external stakeholders and academics to develop a robust evidence base on relevant sectors and markets. Conducting ad-hoc investigations using qualitative and quantitative market and government data sources, robustly using logical and statistical methods to draw conclusions. Working flexibly across the Impact function and the National Wealth Fund to support a range of projects and enable a proactive cross-team working environment. Contributing to an inclusive, high-performing team with a friendly, and collaborative culture Knowledge, Skill and Experience requirements Essential Skills & Experience: Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write concisely and in a compelling way for non-analysts. Ability to summarise complex issues and data in an easy-to-understand manner and focus on the most relevant information. Ability to undertake robust quality assurance, and constructively challenge and peer review the work of others. Ability to develop productive working relationships, influence, and navigate stakeholders, including with more senior colleagues. Excellent research skills, and the ability to deliver high-quality output at pace, and within deadlines. Desirable Skills & Experience Knowledge of research, data, economic theory and appraisal related to climate change and/or regional and local economic growth Relevant quantitative skills and/or experience of coding and modelling in an economic appraisal environment. Knowledge of undertaking evaluations and impact assessments (e.g. economic or environmental). Knowledge of analysis related to infrastructure projects and investments or infrastructure finance. Experience in any of the following: economic appraisal, Environmental, Social, Resilience and Governance (ESRG) scrutiny, social research, operational research, statistics, financial appraisal, or other relevant analytical areas. Professional Qualifications You need to have, or expect to have: A degree, or a degree apprenticeship, or higher/post-graduate degree (or international equivalent) in a highly numerate or research-focused subject – for example economics, finance, statistics, data analytics etc. – or have equivalent experience.
