Applicants who require a visa to work in the UK should be aware that our apprenticeships are ineligible for sponsorship. Availability to complete the level 3 apprenticeship up to a 42-month duration Evidence of having been resident in the UK for 3 years prior to taking up the apprenticeship in September this year or candidates who qualify for an exemption as stated here: Apprenticeship funding rules - GOV.UK At least 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) with results of 5 and above. Please note that three of the GCSEs must be Maths, Science and English. Ability to be onsite five days per week, either at our factory in Brackley or at the apprenticeship learning provider (located in Milton Keynes or Coventry). We will check you meet the criteria as part of the application process as this will need to be evidenced before you can start the programme. About the role: We have an exciting opportunity for an Aero Car Technician Apprentice to join our team. We are looking for someone who will thrive in the fast-paced environment of our Model Shop, within the Aerodynamics department. The successful candidate will become part of a highly skilled team and will support us through learning to assemble mechanical components, work with a variety of contemporary and traditional materials and gain experience preparing components for our Formula One Aerodynamics programme. Key Skills To Be Developed: To be trained to use hand tools and implement this skill into building Wind Tunnel Models and components for Aerodynamic development Develop an ability to read technical drawings, enabling you to build Models and Sub-Assemblies to our high standard You will maintain good quality control for component manufacture Gain full knowledge of all Model Areas: sub-assembly, preparation and painting, materials and manufacturing processes through mentoring from the Model Shop Shift Leaders Develop an ability to execute model changes in the wind tunnel for aerodynamic development tests and liaise with the aerodynamicists to achieve performance targets Become familiar with the storage of Model parts and locations of all parts using our software Develop skills in fabrication and light machining duties Develop ability to use simple layup repair procedures, and Carbon fibre trimming Candidate Profile Essential: Computer literate and able to learn new software quickly Experience of manual dexterity Strong interest in the build and servicing of mechanical assemblies and how they work Good problem-solving skills with a solid analytical approach An enquiring mind with a real what, why & how attitude Good communication skills Confident in using hand tools and have a real hand on approach Ability to plan and organise workload effectively Reliable, proactive and able to use own imitative Possesses a strong, positive work ethic with a ‘can do’ approach An advocate for working collaboratively within the team to achieve goals Demonstrates a strong customer focus through good communication and interpersonal skills Dependable, enthusiastic and willing to learn Benefits: When you put the effort in, we give it back.
