Primary Purpose

An AMHP at Oldham plays a statutory role, under the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended in 2007), in coordinating, assessing, and making legally binding decisions regarding the detention of individuals experiencing mental health crises

• Mental Health Act Assessments
  
  
  • Receive and triage requests for MHA assessments.
  • Organise and participate in assessments alongside two doctors (including at least one Section 12 approved psychiatrist)
  • Determine whether a formal application for detention (e.g., under Section 2 or 3) should be made.
  • Arrange safe and dignified conveyance to hospital when required
